Selecting The Right Life Insurance Policy For You - Tips To Consider!

Some people compare life insurance to a type of gamble. Unfortunately, this mindset is increasingly common. The fact is, it is not a risk that you want to take because when you lose that bet, your family is the one who pays the price. The following article will educate you towards making the right decisions when it comes to your life insurance coverage.

What is Real Estate?

When folks think about the term “real estate,” what they most likely think about is a residential home. They think that that’s the only type of real estate, just the houses themselves.

Are Condo Restrictions Too Cramped For Your Lifestyle?

If you’re researching about the option of purchasing a property in a condo, townhouse, or subdivision development, you’ll be forced to follow a stringent homeowner association rules and regulations; pay fines when you fail to obey these rules; be subjected to a property lien when you can’t keep up with the monthly association fees; violation fees and other assessments; and receive additional fines when you break the rules.

Will You Benefit From Owning A Home Short Term?

If you’re thinking about buying real estate, you may have read the advice of real estate professionals recommending you never own a home for less than 4-5 years. This advice may seem reasonable given the odds you could lose money if your home doesn’t appreciate enough to cover your loan costs, closing fees, and Realtor commissions.

Negotiation, Negotiation, Negotiation Not.

Best not to ask me why I did it, but I sat down last night to watch the last bit of Location, Location, Location on Channel 4. From what I could see, there were two sets of househunters, one with 400,000 to spend on a home in the village where half of them grew up, and the other looking for a house in Torquay to suit their 550,000 budget. One of the househunters was a football coach and the other one had an obsession with surfing. Explaining that, presumably, filled up another five minutes of airtime. With this detailed brief, Kirsty Allsopp and Phil Spencer - plus the research team who do all the work for them - head off into the distance to look for a suitable selection of potential homes that might tick all the boxes.

No Wonder Estate Agents are Dishonest

There are over one million residential properties currently for sale in the UK. The average estate agent has 74 on its books says Rightmove, greater than at any time since the top property website was founded in 1999. Its latest June House Price Index is candid. Asking prices have risen for six months in a row. But transactional volumes are barely half what they were in 2007. Tight mortgage lending, plentiful choice of homes on the market and resourceful, cautious buyers combine to encourage Rightmove to call the ongoing rise in asking prices a ‘romp away from reality’. So why the romp?

Power To The Portal!

Are property websites really the ‘be all and end all’ of property search? Surely their effectiveness has peaked now and will, at best, plateau? The likes of Rightmove, Zoopla, Property Finder and Prime Location (the latter two out of the same Digital Property Group stable) are already massive by volume of visits. Here are the Nielsen unique visitor traffic numbers for the UK’s leading property portals as at January 2011:

It’s Time For A Change In The Conveyancing Process

Ever been gazumped or gazundered? Or lost out on a property purchase because the owner changed their mind about selling at the last minute or the buyer got cold feet on the day of exchange of contracts and pulled out leaving you footing a fortune in lawyers’ costs and abandoned surveys? Perhaps you’ve been on the rough end of a tussle over a whether a washing machine or water butt should be left in situ? And fought about moving day being a Thursday or a Friday?

The Case Of The Toothless Watchdog

This week it has been reported that lettings agent Sharon Price of Price Properties in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire has been fined 3,000 by magistrates for failing to repay 90,000 of funds to her clients. She claims ill health as her reasoning for the absence of rental payments being passed on from tenants albeit that evidence has emerged that payments were often set up to be made by Price’s staff only to be rescinded by her the following day.

You Want To Complain? And About Time, Too!

At long last that famous British ‘mustn’t grumble’ attitude is starting to come to an end. It’s about time - we’ve all been putting up with poor food in restaurants, poor service in shops and poor communications from estate agents. Now the tide is turning, and the Property Ombudsman has a bit of work on his hands, because in 2010, he received 1338 complaints about estate agents.
