Everybody should have an investment portfolio, because it’s the best way to make more money than just what your salary allows. You’ve got to have investments if you want to retire early, or take care of yourself in your old age without needing social security. That’s what FAPturbo is all about.

And I’ve not yet come across a program like YNAB to do just that: Create and maintain a budget. YNAB is totally unique in that sense. I have learned to save for upcoming bills, vet care, insurance, car repairs, and all of life’s other little surprises. I am no longer living paycheck to paycheck. We recently had our laptop break down and didn’t replace it for two months, during which time we went without YNAB. It was insane to see how much we needed the program! Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing what’s in the works next. By the fifteenth, I am putting money in for the next month. I really love YNAB.

It still remains to be seen really but I think that my budgeting will be more accurate now. I do definitely spend less time planning out my next month’s budget. This software has helped me in so many ways with respect to money management. I have Quicken and Money, but both were really a waste of money for budgeting. This is not for the wishy-washy, faint of heart person who thinks a software application is going to miraculously “fix it”. It’s for the person who seriously wants to make changes in their spending habits and is willing to work at it. I am learning to think whether expenditures fit within my income now - or if I should wait for later, or not spend at all. I am seriously enjoying this process! Searching for a way to finally get a grip and get rid of debt without having to spend tons of time (which I don’t have anyhow), I came across this software about a month ago. As a longtime user of MS Money, I had no trouble getting the software up and running even though the premise is different from most money “management” software.

This might sound a little illogical, but it makes it a lot easier to recover psychologically from months where you couldn’t stay on your budget. Interestingly, this is the only rule that the software enforces, but if you are keen on having a negative balance, you can actually override this yourself by budgeting the shortfall as a negative amount for the following month. YNAB helps by providing that approach. In addition, YNAB provides some of the best support I’ve ever seen in a software package. This is a vital reference function to me. It is taking so much time and energy to try to learn this system that I am giving up for now and heading back to Quicken.

The navigation completely changed which is OK if it is improved - it is a mess. Single click update often fails on my US Bank accounts and I have to do each one separately and type in my challenge questions about 8 times. Prior to Quicken 2008 I used QuickBooks but the price was a big issue. Rather than install 2011 over 2008 I completely removed the 2008 version and MANUALLY entered all my data. The product was installed on a Lenovo N100 2gb RAM Windows Vista notebook. The 2011 edition was an upgrade from Home & Business 2008. The software has apparently tried to model some aspects of Mint.com since Intuit bought them out. But if you’ve used Quicken before, this is very much the same software, and you will immediately know the basics of how to do everything. Of course a spreadsheet could do most of that stuff too. I was hopeful that this version of Quicken would manage my data from Interactive Brokers since it is listed as “supported”.

The history of the Quicken product doesn’t suggest a bright future for Quicken users. Don’t get suckered into starting up with Quicken.

This is my first experience with Quicken, and I have the Home and Business 2011 version. I am downgrading my review, as I continue to get errors, and I just noticed all of the 5 star reviews are from Quicken beta testers! The reports seem a complicated, the menu seems to just be rearranged, seems to be very difficult to find what you’re looking for without going to help. I really hope quicken works on some new features soon, till then I’ll keep upgrading every three years. It will save it under that day’s date or just as a file. I did not like however, the way Quicken 8 made you update to next version. You play the hunt and search game and it can be very frustrating at times. After using Money Plus for years, that is to be expected.

I had and old version of quicken that my new computer would not use. I went to an office supply store and they wanted over $100.

And a working sync system between the iPhone app and the desktop app. I’ve only used it for more than a month but I haven’t found anything to complain about.

The key to working online and making money is finding consistent opportunities. If your main income stream is going to come from something like surveys, then you’ve got to find the right resource that can basically guarantee that you can find surveys that you can fill out like Surveys 4 income.
